Armor.
Ok, I decided upon getting 15k Gladiators for my W/E Hammer/Earth build, but the pain in the ass is getting to Grottos to make it. I've been trying to get there for about four days now and I've only made it as far as Copperhammer and here the runners seem to die out and stop.
The question.
I have the Citadel and I was contemplating getting 15k Platemail instead since there's a 50/50 chance that I won't be able to get to Grottos.
Should I keep working towards Grottos or should I just double-back and get 15k Plate?
PS: Non-15 Gladiators is hideous. It's not all about the stats, the armor has to suit your taste or you'll just get pissed off simply looking at it.

I'm in Shiverpeaks now, and all my friend does is run with henchmen if he can't kill them. He's a E/Me with no run skills and just has the henchmen tank for him. I would try targetting an enemy, letting the henchmen go, wait for the entire group to focus on the henchmen, then start to run.

If you can afford 15k Plate, you can afford a run to grotto . Plate costs more to make than Gladiators due to Deldrimor steel. The money saved should cover your run.

Appollo.. definately get the glads.. i just got the 15k glads last night.. its HEAPS better.. as you say the 1.5 glads is aweful to look at.. i couldnt bare to keep running around in it.. but the energy is so good..
what sucked was when i salvaged my old armor to get the runes.. 2 of them didnt salavge into runes.. so i had to go and buy sup tactics and sup strength.. luckiily they're cheap in comparison
i also had to buy some iron and tanned.. but that didnt take to long

i did this run a few days ago, with my w/me (with elemental resistance and sprint)
start in thunderhead keep, run through the first mursatz (let your henchies deal with or die)
take the south way, avoid as much as possible imps, and wait for the mursatz (near the entrance of mathran's grotto) to dispatch, then run in
i did it in 5 minutes and killing 3 or 4 ice imps

Alternatively, you could just fight your way there. Really, getting to Grotto isn't that hard, and you'll save time just fighting there instead of trying and failing to run over and over again.
Why are so many people adverse to fighting anywhere anymore?

i must admit you're right, that's not a hard way, with "long range" (= all exept the warriors, to avoid too much aggro) henchies
but after a few time, a small run to avoid mobs sounds good

The run from Thunderhead Keep is seriously easy with any warrior; once you make it to a certain point in the map, you'll respawn at a Ressurrection Shrine right outside your destination.

Either get 1.5k at Drok's or wait.
15k Platemail is a town set, as it costs the most. But Glad's has the best bonuses, thus far. W/ an Ascalon or Knights piece of course. So just get Drok's or wait. Don't get 15k platemail. It looks cool, but drawbacks outweigh the aesthetics. Too bad *BOTH* Glad's sets make you look like a porn star wannabe...

Chimera armor set r0x0rs me...
[like a chimera, this armor set uses every piece from a different set to synergize into a nice, though very unique looking armor]
Some say it's ugly, I just say, "I'm more than likely alive after the fight then you... Blame it on Anet for giving global protection and the like on the right pieces, I'd get the 15k armor if it was possible...
Collector's Exe. Helm of Sup. Axe Mastery
Wyvern Hauberk of Sup. Absorption [minor now, working on it]
Stonefist Gauntlets [good AL and I do use hammer on occasion]
PlateMail Leggings [since Knights aren't max armor]
Ascalon Boots [Beastly feet...] Maybe I'd go Knights? Nah, I want it to be mismatched... ^_^
In a nice dragon scale green dye made from mixing Dye Remover with Green...
[little note, you can get GOLD using Yellow with Dye Remover... *ack*]
